Julia was instrumental in developing our lean working across Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland Community Services, as we rolled out a significant lean programme of work. This work built on our partnership with Unipart, developing our systems and techniques to place the patient at the heart of everything we did through the determination of "customer value". I have worked with Julia more recently on a national project championed by the Cabinet Office (Resolving Multiple Disadvantage Project). Julia brought the same drive, enthusiasm and expertise to this project, and really helped us to shape our thinking and develop our processes to engage with young homeless people to determine how they accessed services and what we could do to improve that access.

Julia is an expert not just in "lean" as a set of tools and techniques, but in how to meaningfully apply this thinking in a systematic and rational way that engages both customers and front-line staff in developing the systematic improvement of services and systems.
